Camping, Hiking and All the Words

I have heard time and time again that successful people journal. People who have morning routines journal. Creative people journal. Christian leaders, songwriters, authors…they all seem to journal. I’ve tried. Multiple times I have purchased the perfect journal and the perfect pens with every intention of capturing my thoughts on paper. I’ve even started a few times and gotten a couple of days in and then…..nothing. There sits the perfect journal just staring at me, begging for me to write in it. Weeks will go by and I might make another meager attempt to write something for a day or Continue Reading →

Bothered By A Blessing

Hey guys! I have another surprise for you all-another guest blogger! My SIL is wise beyond her years. She is full of wisdom and so fun and has such a great perspective on life. I am super blessed to have gained her as a sister when I married my husband. She is doing a life challenge (there is a link below to learn more about this) and I challenged her to write a blog for me to be able to share her words with all of my friends. So, today is the day! Enjoy and show her plenty of love Continue Reading →

Daycare Heroes and Long Lost Friends

One of my first memories is of me attending a daycare that was inside a lady’s home with several other kids around my age. I don’t remember much about that daycare except that they had a dog. I was terrified of dogs and this dog looked to be as big as I was with teeth like a shark. Now that I think back, I’m pretty sure it was just a weenie dog, but it seemed like the most vicious weenie dog my four year old self had ever seen. I know what you’re thinking. There was nothing to be scared Continue Reading →

My Sister’s Words of Wisdom

This week I am doing something a little different on here. If you’ve been following my post, you’ve read about my sisters a little bit. The middle sis, Heather, is one of the people I look up to most in my life. Although she is younger, there is something about her I have always admired. We fought like crazy as kids, but as we got into high school and played on the same sports teams we began to learn to be teammates and then friends. We would visit each other in college and loan each other money to get by Continue Reading →

Birthdays, Beers & the Super Bowl

It was an exciting week in our household. My husband had a birthday! Thirty-Five. It was kind of a big one. I feel like all birthdays ending in 5 or 0 are big ones. Am I the only one that feels this way? I remember turning 10 and it was a very big deal. Double digits! Twenty was the year you were no longer a teenager. Thirty was the new 20, of course. But 35 just kind of feels like aging. I’m a year ahead of my husband, so this isn’t a knock on him getting older. There is just Continue Reading →

Will you forget me forever?

I had just turned 15. I was a Freshman in high school and it was Christmas morning. My youngest sister was 8 years old and woke us up bright and early to see the surprises Santa had left us. We gathered around and presents began to get passed out. As my sisters and I sat on the tan carpet in the living room, the boxes began to stack up in front of us. I noticed my mom looking around as if she was searching for something, specifically in my direction. Without warning she hurried out of the room but was Continue Reading →

Pressure Cooker, Car-less and Community

I found my easy button! Do you remember the Staples commercials with the easy button? We’ve all wished we could have one of those at some point. Life gets hard, the laundry is piled as high as your head, the kitchen is a mess….no problem, just push the easy button! Well have no fear, the easy button is here! The Power Pressure Cooker XL is my new easy button. I’m a little late to the electric pressure cooker craze, but I received this as a Christmas gift and I am now officially in love! Why didn’t I get one of Continue Reading →

Its been a rough week. The new year started, I sat down and wrote my goals, I had big aspirations and then SNEEZE. COUGH. SNIFFLE. My home was infected! Last week my husband seemed to have a bad case of allergies. With the weather being up and down between 30 and 70 degrees and winds up to 25mph, it was no surprise. This happens to him about once a year. The second or third day he decided to stay home from work and rest up. Now, in the ten years I have known him I think I can count on Continue Reading →

Happy 2018

We are already a week into the new year and I am just now starting to feel like I am recovered from December. I’m probably a little biased, but I think I might have had the busiest December of anyone I know. With holiday parties, my birthday, shopping, wrapping, Hallmark movies and traveling to my parents for Christmas, its always a busy time of year. But this past December also included a trip to Disney World. That’s right! I got to go to the happiest place on Earth, during the busiest month of the year, and it was magical! I Continue Reading →

Mindset Matters

The unknown. A new road. New people. A new career. Change. It can be scary. Fear sets in. Doubts take over. Do you take that first step, or do you let the fear paralyze you and stop you in your tracks? We have all been told how important it is to be surrounded by the “right” people. Having positive, encouraging and supportive people in our lives can help us take that first step in a new direction and keep us moving forward on our path to success. Those people push us to be the best version of ourselves. It is Continue Reading →
